FACEBOOK IS “GETTING WORSE, NOT BETTER” — It’s Not Just GM That Thinks Facebook Ads Don’t Work

If you run a business that advertises on online you probably already know the old rumor: Facebook ads are a great way to reach drunk people who click the wrong things.

As of this week it’s no longer a rumor. It’s true.

On the eve of the Facebook IPO, the country’s third-biggest advertiser, GM, announced that it was pulling its entire $10 million ad campaign from Facebookbecause the ads don’t work.

This was obviously bad news for a company that many people still think will one day be bigger than Google.

GM’s competitor, Ford, quickly suggested that GM was the problem, not Facebook, by saying that its own Facebook ads work perfectly well.

But other huge companies also appear to be having serious doubts about the value of the Facebook platform. (source)

Talk about the old bait & switch. We just received a notification about a new reality show that Bravo TV is launching shortly called Silicon Valley. One get’s the initial impression that it’s about geeks and nerds chasing venture capital but that is so wrong that it could not be wronger.

Turns out the show is really about a group of self-important airheads and metrosexuals starting fashion stores and relationship counseling businesses in Silicon Valley.  From the trailer below it looks like a California version of Jersey Shore.
